My Favourite Friendships

I love seeing wonderful friendships in books sometimes even more than the romantic relationships. I love how much they love and care for each other and how much they would do for each other. I love seeing the banter and sarcastic remarks and the sibling type arguing. I want to see more great friendships in books! So I thought I would share some of my favourite friendships in books.

Laia and Izzy in An Ember in the Ashes – I loved the friendship that built between them, the tentative way they started to get to know each other because they knew that this would be a weakness that the Commandant would use to hurt them but still decided to become friends, to have at least something good no matter what the Commandant did to them. The way they tried to protect and shield each other and risked their own lives to protect theirs. I really loved them.

Ali, Aqisa and Lubayd in The Kingdom of Copper – I adored their friendship and I was so glad to see that Ali finally met people who he could trust and who would be there for him without wanting something in return. They had such great banter and I loved all of their interactions. I love how they protected each other and some of my favourite scenes are of the three of them.

Cinder and Thorne in The Lunar Chronicles – I read this book years ago and still Cinder and Thorne’s friendship is one of my favourites. They have such witty banter and sass and I love how much they help each other despite only having met when they were both escaped prison. That Thorne stayed with her during her whole revolution despite knowing how dangerous it is and how Cinder did her best to protect him and never forgot him despite everything.

Ayesha and Clara from Ayesha at Last – I loved these two so much and how they had such a wonderful sister bond with each other. How Clara was always there for Ayesha and pushed her to achieve her potential and how Ayesha helped her with her relationship. They are so understanding and even a part of their families lives.

Will And Jem from The Infernal Devices – I absolutely adore these two and their parabatai bond is unlike any other in this universe. The way they look out for each other and care so deeply for each other that they would sacrifice their own happiness and even their life for each other. I also love how much they roast each other and have such funny sarcastic sassy banter. Them being sarcastic to each other is some of my favourite scenes.

What My Favourite Characters Would Do In Quarantine – Book Tag

I saw this tag on The Caffeinated Reader and I knew I had to do this tag as it looked so fun!

Rules
Take 5 or more of your favourite book characters and imagine what they would be doing if they were quarantined with us in the real world.
You can have them be in their own squad if you want or working on their own.
Tag 5 friends.
Link back to this post and credit Reader Voracious.

So here are my favourite characters and what I think they would do in quarantine!

1 Nahri and Ali from The City of Brass – They would grab as many books as they could from the library and spend the time discussing and debating with each other and maybe Nahri will finally teach Ali how to pick a lock!

2 Laia and Elias from An Ember in the Ashes – Laia would be trying to figure out how to help those who are affected and Elias would be trying to work out how to distribute whatever Laia comes up with to help the people. They would also probably end up stealing the antidote from the Empire to help Laia’s people who will definitely be denied access to it.

3 Cinder and Kai from The Lunar Chronicles – Cinder would be working with the scientists on Lunar to come up with an antidote and Kai would be busy trying to keep New Beijing from collapsing into chaos and they would video call each other to talk and destress after their stressful days.

4 Samirah and Alex from the Magnus Chase trilogy – Samirah would use it to catch up on school and do extra work and Alex would spend her days alternating between Netflix and annoying Samirah.

5 Zainab and Adam from Love From A to Z – Adam would be one of the people at higher risk so he would need to stay home and stay safe so Zainab would do things involving needing to go outside and they would spend their time at home relaxing and obviously journaling. Adam would spend some time on his art and Zainab would video call her friends to catch up with them.

So here are my favourite characters in quarantine!

Everyone is welcome to do the tag! If you do the tag do share with me I would love to read it!

Audiobook Recommendations

So last year I really got into audiobooks. I found that I was able to reread my favourite books without having to feel guilty about the unread books on my shelves and wow it was a life changer!

I have loved using audiobooks to read especially as I get motion sickness and cannot look at a book or my phone while travelling and it means I can still read while cooking or working!

So I thought that as it has helped me so much I would share some of my favourite audiobooks.

1 The City of Brass and The Kingdom of Copper by S.A. Chakraborty – Obviously this book would be on here! But no seriously guys, the audiobook is absolutely amazing! The narrator does such a great job of sucking you right into the story!

2 Six of Crows duology by Leigh Bardugo – This is a full cast! I loved this audiobook so much!

3 Fight Like a Girl by Clementine Ford – Clementine reads this herself and it is so good. She is witty and sarcastic and it makes it a really fun read listening to her

4 The Bone Season by Samantha Shannon – I really enjoyed rereading the books by listening to them!

5 An Ember in the Ashes series by Sabaa Tahir – There’s a narrator for each point of view character and it makes it such a thrilling read. I’m listening to book 2 at the moment and I am enjoying it even more as an audiobook!

6 PS. I Love You by Cecelia Ahern – Listening to it made me sob even more than when I read it.

7 Invisible Women by Caroline Criado-Pérez – Such a powerful book and even more so when you listen to it

8 The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer – It’s even more of a fun read when you listen to the audiobooks!

9 Caraval by Stephanie Garber – I actually enjoyed it more as an audiobook!

10 Why I’m No Longer Talking To White People About Race by Reni Eddo-Lodge – This book is such a necessary read and is even more powerful when you listen to it.

Friday Favourites – Fictional Families

This was hosted by Something of the Book who created this tag out of a love for lists. Now Geeky Galaxy is taking over the tag. There are different topics for us all to be able to take part and you can find the prompts here. There isn’t a specific number of favourites so it’s entirely up to you how many you share.

This weeks topic is about fictional families and I love seeing fictional families. I especially love this trope as my friends are basically my family too and my sisters are my best friends too so I think it’s so important to show that family can be so different for each person and not just the traditional parent child etc.

So here are my favourite fictional families:

Percy Jackson by Rick Riordan – This series shows such a wonderful found family and how complex it can be and it was just amazing to see.

The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer – I love the Rampion crew so much and how they become a family!

The Gilded Wolves by Roshani Chokshi – I love how they look out for and support each other and how they are understanding of each others differences.

Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo – I adore the Dregs so much and their banter is the best!

Grace and Fury by Tracy Banghart – I have a really close relationshipwith my sisters too so it was so great to see how the sisters were together in this book and how they looked out for each other but also argued like sisters do.

The City of Brass by S.A. Chakraborty – I love the Qahtani siblings! They have such interesting dynamics and it’s such a complex relationship between them especially the brothers because of them being a ruling family.

So here are some of my favourite fictional families. What books have some of your favourites?

Fictional Characters that are Scary as Hell

Everyone on bookstagram is talking about spooky/horror reads as it’s October but being a mood reader and not one for horror books I don’t really know many books that could come under these categories.

So I thought I would share some characters that would be scary as hell if I ever met them.

1 The Commandant from An Ember in the Ashes – Look that woman is so damn scary, even more so than the Nightbringer. She is the worst mum ever and I really hope Elias is the one to end her. However if I ever had to meet her, well I don’t know how I would cope. Just reading about how she dealt with Laia was scary enough.

2 Amarantha from ACOTAR – She is sadistic and there is no way anyone could convince me to go anywhere near her. I mean look at how she managed to control all those High Lord’s with their abilities.

3 Queen Levana from The Lunar Chronicles – She can literally control my mind so I’m just going to stay on earth far away from her.

4 Kaz Brekker from Six of Crows – The fact that he is 17 makes him even more scarier. It would easy to underestimate him but that would be a big mistake. I mean look at what he did to the guy who hurt Inej…He tore out his eye ball! Yup I’m going to stay far away from him.

5 Maeve from Throne of Glass – Another character who I would not want to get on her bad side. I will stay far away from her thank you very much.

Also honourable mention goes to the Darkling because while he is a mass murderer who literally tried to enslave Alina, I would still melt in a puddle if he so much as said one line to me.

What characters would you never want to meet?
