Top 5 Wednesday – Fictional Places You’d Take a Date To

Hey booknerds! It’s another Top 5 Wednesday post! This is hosted by Sam over on Thoughts on Tomes where you share you top 5 for the chosen topic for that week. You can check out each weeks topic over on Goodreads.

There are so many fictional places in books that sound so beautiful and magical and I would love to go there and they would be amazing places to go on a date with my husband. So these are the places that I think me and my husband would have great fun on a date.

1 The Shire from The Lord of the Rings – my husband loves the outdoors so I think he would love the beautiful greenery of the shire

2 Night Court from ACOTAR – So as much as I hate the high lord there I still can’t deny that the night court would a wonderful place to go on a date

3 Artemisia from The Lunar Chronicles – it is always described so beautifully with a wonderful view of earth that I know it would be a great date to go there and explore!

4 Red London from A Darker Shade of Magic – this would be a great place to go exploring and discovering new things

5 Daevabad from The City of Brass – my husband is OBSESSED with jinns so yup this is the perfect date for him. I doubt he would ever want to leave to be honest. Yup we would have to move there.

So these are my top places I would take my husband on a date. Where would you love to go on a date?

My Favourite Films to Watch in the Winter

Okay so with the weather getting colder I just want to snuggle with my cat and a blanket with candles lit and a cup of tea. I love being able to read in the cold evening but I also love watching my favourite films this time of year, even more so than the rest of the year! There’s just something comforting about watching them this time of year. So I thought I would share with you all and find out what you like to do when it’s cold.

Of course the Harry Potter films are top of the list! I watch them every winter, when I lived at home with my family, me and my sisters would watch them all over the Christmas holidays. Now though it’s just me as my husband is not a big Harry Potter fan. He only watched the films a few years ago when I made him watch them with me!

Since the release of Fantastic Beasts on DVD this has also become one of my comfort films. I love watching it especially when I feel unwell. I love Newt so much, he’s such a cinnamon roll!

Another favourite of mine is The Lord of the Rings trilogy! This is actually one of the few films my husband enjoys and will watch more than once so we will watch them together, when it’s cold and neither of us can be bothered to go out for date night. Takeaways and The Lord of the Rings has become a staple date night in our house.

Okay so I know many people didn’t like The Hobbit films but I do and I also love watching these.

My favourite Disney film is Tangled and I HAVE to watch it, I mean I watch it throughout the year too but it’s a must in the winter. I adore Rapunzal and Flynn and they are my OTP!

I have a few other Disney films that I love to watch too, all of them films of my childhood and they always make me feel nostalgic. From Hercules, Aladdin, Aristocats and Mulan being some of my favourites!

The last one that I love watching is Pride and Prejudice. I adore Darcy and Elizabeth so much! It’s my favourite classic and I’m glad the film does it justice!

So here are some of my favourite films to watch during the winter. Do you love any of these? What do you like watching?

Top 10 Tuesday – Villains

Hey booknerds! I’m taking part in another week of Top Ten Tuesday!

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together. You can find more information here

So this weeks topic is villains

I love the villains in books and films! They’re so interesting and twisted and often think that they are doing the right thing in their twisted way. So here are some villains that I love or love to hate.

1 Loki – he is my favourite marvel character and I love seeing him in books too! He’s the villain in the Magnus Chase books and I basically love him!

2 The Darkling from the Grisha trilogy – he’s another villain I love and was one of the few villains that I was actually rooting for in the books!

3 Queen Levana from The Lunar Chronicles – she was so evil and so twisted and she actually, truly believed she was doing everything for the good of the people. Her backstory is so tragic that I actually felt sorry for her

4 Aidan from Illuminae – my favourite psychopathic AI how can you not love him?!

5 The Jackal from Red Rising – another psychopath who was smart and calculating and just plain scary!

6 Maeve from Throne of Glass – she is twisted and terrifying and what we learned about her in the latest books just blew my mind! Aelin needs to kill her already!

7 The Commandant from An Ember in the Ashes – I find her more terrifying than the nightbringer, she is cold and smart and calculating and honestly I’m just waiting for the day that Elias will kill her

8 Sauran from The Lord of the Rings – Even though we don’t actually see much of him directly the destruction that he causes is horrifying

9 Xifeng from Forest of a Thousand Lanterns – she may be the villain but I was totally rooting for her!

10 – Umbridge from Harry Potter – well I was debating on whether I should have Voldermort on this list instead but I hate Umbridge far more that I have ever hated Voldermort. Honestly I wanted her dead more than him.

So these are some of my favourite villains! Ones that left a huge impression on me, whether it was because I wanted them to win or that I hated them with a passion! And do let me know some of yours!

Top 5 Wednesday – Road Trip Books

Hey booknerds! It’s another Top 5 Wednesday post! This is hosted by Sam over on Thoughts on Tomes where you share you top 5 for the chosen topic for that week. You can check out each weeks topic over on Goodreads.

This weeks topic is Road trip books. So today I’m going to be discuss books that feature road trips!

So I’m personally not someone that enjoys road trips, mainly because I have really bad motion sickness so I will sleep the entire journey unless I’m driving!

So anyways back to books that feature road trips. I’m going to use road trip loosely as I haven’t read many books that directly feature a road trip.

So the books I chose are:

The Hobbit – okay come on Bilbo goes on an adventure! This is what road trips are for right?!

The Travelling Cat Chronicles – So this one actually does feature a road trip! If you haven’t read it then you seriously need to! It’s a beautiful story and one of my favourite books this year!

Map of Salt and Stars – The story features both the main characters travelling between several countries, Nour because she becomes a refugee and Rawiya because she becomes an apprentice to a map maker.

His Dark Materials – So Lyra travels between worlds, that counts as a road trip right?!

Percy Jackson and the Olympians – In each book the trio travel to different places to fulfil the quest they have been given.

So these are my road trip books!

Do you enjoy road trips? Have you been on a road trip before?

Let me know in the comments!
