Top 10 Tuesday

Top 10 Tuesday – Villains

Hey booknerds! I’m taking part in another week of Top Ten Tuesday!

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together. You can find more information here

So this weeks topic is villains

I love the villains in books and films! They’re so interesting and twisted and often think that they are doing the right thing in their twisted way. So here are some villains that I love or love to hate.

1 Loki – he is my favourite marvel character and I love seeing him in books too! He’s the villain in the Magnus Chase books and I basically love him!

2 The Darkling from the Grisha trilogy – he’s another villain I love and was one of the few villains that I was actually rooting for in the books!

3 Queen Levana from The Lunar Chronicles – she was so evil and so twisted and she actually, truly believed she was doing everything for the good of the people. Her backstory is so tragic that I actually felt sorry for her

4 Aidan from Illuminae – my favourite psychopathic AI how can you not love him?!

5 The Jackal from Red Rising – another psychopath who was smart and calculating and just plain scary!

6 Maeve from Throne of Glass – she is twisted and terrifying and what we learned about her in the latest books just blew my mind! Aelin needs to kill her already!

7 The Commandant from An Ember in the Ashes – I find her more terrifying than the nightbringer, she is cold and smart and calculating and honestly I’m just waiting for the day that Elias will kill her

8 Sauran from The Lord of the Rings – Even though we don’t actually see much of him directly the destruction that he causes is horrifying

9 Xifeng from Forest of a Thousand Lanterns – she may be the villain but I was totally rooting for her!

10 – Umbridge from Harry Potter – well I was debating on whether I should have Voldermort on this list instead but I hate Umbridge far more that I have ever hated Voldermort. Honestly I wanted her dead more than him.

So these are some of my favourite villains! Ones that left a huge impression on me, whether it was because I wanted them to win or that I hated them with a passion! And do let me know some of yours!

Favourite Friendships in Books

As much as I love my OTP’s and ships I also love seeing amazing friendships in books. Ones that stay as friends and no romantic developments happen later. So I thought I would share some of my all time favourite friendships in books.

1 Cinder and Carswell Thorne from The Lunar Chronicles – they are hilarious and sassy and I adore their banter throughout the books. Their scenes together are some of my favourite!

2 Darrow and Sevro from Red Rising – they have such an amazing friendship! They go through so much in the books but they never betray each other. They are always there for each other and call each other out when they do something wrong.

3 Dorian and Chaol from Throne of Glass – they are two of my favourite characters in these books and I always love their friendship and how much they go through and their friendship never wavers. I cannot wait for them to meet again in the final book!

4 Nina and Inej from Six of Crows – I love how they love and support each other. It’s so amazing to see female friendships in books. How they look out for each other and get advice from each other ang generally enjoy spending time with each other.

5 Magnus and Samirah from Magnus Chase – they have the cutest friendship! I love Magnus is considerate of Samirah’s religious beliefs and how Samirah always looks out for Magnus.

6 Will and Jem from The Infernal Devices – best parabatai’s ever! They have such a wonderful friendship and I wish we got to see more of it.

7 Amani and Shahrzad from Rebel of the Sands – they quickly become friends in the first book and by the end of the trilogy they have one of the best friendships ever! I loved it so much especially when Amani is given the chance to ensure the survival of one of the characters and she chooses Shahrzad even though she could have saved Jin or Ahmed instead.

8 Percy and Grover from Percy Jaackson and the Olympians – Rick Riordan definitely knows how to write great friendships! These are another two that I adore! They even have an empathy link!

9 Harry, Ron and Hermione from Harry Potter – of course I couldn’t write about my favourite friendships without including these three! I love their friendship right from the first book to the end!

10 The Secret Seven/Famous Five by Enid Blyton – this is taking it way back into my childhood! I loved the friendships the kids have in both these books so much!

Well there you have it! These are some of my all time favourite friendships!

Let me know what your favourite friendships are! I love reading books with amazing friendships in it!

Sci-fi May Nerdy Post Box Unboxing

Hey booknerds! I have an unboxing for you today! This is super late as this was the May box but I really wanted to share it as I loved this box so much!

This is the May Nerdy Post box Sci-Fi box! For anyone that doesn’t know what Nerdy Post is, it’s a fandom monthly subscription box.

From Nerdy Post’s website: Each box is full of all original fandom artwork. This includes hand lettered and illustrated quotes and designs. We have several different options to fit different budgets.

So the May box was based on all things Sci-Fi! There was items from both book and films in this box and included some of my favourite fandoms!

So lets get to the unboxing! Included in this months box was:

sci fi unboxing

A Star Wars print. With the quote: Hope is like the sun. If you can only believe in it when you can see it, you’ll never make it through the night. I love Star Wars so I’m so happy to get this!

A Fringe mini print. With the quote: There are no limits except for those that we impose on ourselves. I haven’t seen fringe but I love this quote!

A second mini print based on Illuminae, with the quote: You deserve every star in the galaxy laid out at your feet. I love this quote so much!

This month they also included a Travel the Universe postcard pack. These are 4 postcards which are based on: Doctor Who, Star Wars, Red Rising and Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. I love the artwork on these so much! Though I think Doctor Who is my favourite!

They also included a Space Pirate enamel pin and a keyring both based on The Martian. I especially love the pin!

There was also a Doctor Who sticker with one of my favourite quotes: All of time and space, everything that ever happened or ever will…where do you want to start?

The last item that was included was a double sided bookmark. One side has a quote from Firefly and the other side has a quote from Ender’s Game. I love both quotes but the Firefly one made me laugh! It’s one of my favourite quotes from the show!

The firefly quote is: That sounds like something out of science fiction…we live in a spaceship dear

The Ender’s Game quote is: The right words can change the world.

So that’s everything in the box! They have a larger sized box which has additional items and I wish international shipping wasn’t so expensive so I could get the larger box! They also have a t-shirt box which you can get on it’s own or as a combo with the box. This months t-shirt was based on Red Rising and I am so sad I wasn’t able to get this t-shirt.

Have any of you got these boxes? What was your favourite item or favourite box?
