Who Would You Fancast As Your Favourite Book Characters?

With the recent cast announcement for the Shadow and Bone Netflix show it had me thinking about who I would cast for my favourite characters from some other books.

But first I need to fangirl about the fact that BEN BARNES WILL BE THE DARKLING. Look I really don’t know how anyone expects me to root for Alina, Mal and Nikolai when the Darkling is Ben Barnes. I’m sorry it’s just not possible.

Team Darkling all the way.

And I will hear some of my favourite Darkling lines and Ben Barnes will be the one saying it! I. AM. DECEASED.

Also I am ready for all the Ben Barnes as the Darkling fanart. Send them all to me!

I apologise in advance to anyone who follows me on my social media because this is all I will be talking about on there. Especially as Ben is 38 so I can cry over him all I want without it being all creepy.

ANYWAYS back to why I started writing this post! Here are some of my fancasts:

1 Ranveer Singh as Muntadhir from The City of Brass – Look he is the only person I will accept as Muntadhir and there is nothing you can do to change my mind.

2 Mena Massoud as Jamshid from The City of Brass – He has the cuteness down in exactly the way that I would imagine from Jamshid and I think he would be great playing Jamshid.

3 Margot Robbie as Aelin from Throne of Glass – I think she could pull of Aelin’s confidence and sass and look amazing being a badass assassin!

4 Cengiz Coskun as Cassian from ACOTAR – Look you need to watch him be his badass self in Ertugul and then also be head over heels over his fiancé. He also rocks a man bun and I can seriously see him being a great Cassian.

5 Keke Palmer as Winter from The Lunar Chronicles – I think she could be really great as Winter

6 Matthew Daddario as Azriel from ACOTAR – Look there is no way anyone else can be Azriel in my mind.

7 Lana Condor as Linh Cinder from The Lunar Chronicles – I think she could make a great Cinder especially with her short hair cut!

8 Saoirse Ronan as Victra from Red Rising – Victra is a badass and I think she could portray her really well

10 Deepika Padukone as Laia from An Ember in the Ashes – In my head Laia looks really similar to Deepika so I think she would make a great Laia!

My Favourite Slow Burn Romances

Slow burn romance is one of my absolute favourite type of romances to see in books the second being enemies to lovers because there is so much angst, that build up that makes the reader hang on to every interaction between the characters. I love it so much! Then when they finally get it together and admit their feelings, damn, it’s so satisfying!

So here are some of favourites!

1 Kaz and Inej from Six of Crows – Guys! The slow burn is SO GOOD. Leigh kept me on the edge of my seat every single time they interacted and I really loved how their story played out but it left me wanting more and I am seriously dying for another Dregs book!

2 Percy and Annabeth from the Percy Jackson series – While this could also be friends to lovers, I also feel it’s slow burn because they took five years to get it together! Then when they finally have that perfect underwater first kiss the Greek gods decide to throw another prophecy at them. They are goals.

3 Lord Carlston and Lady Helen from The Dark Days Club – They only took the whole trilogy to finally be together. I spent the whole trilogy dying because it did not look like they would ever be able to be together.

4 Adam and Zaineb from Love From A To Z – The type of Muslim romance I have been waiting my whole life to read and damn it was amazing!

5 Este and Harte from The Last Magician – I really loved their banter and how they both tried to show the other up acting like they were not attracted to each other but they really were.

I think it’s safe to say I’m a sucker for all the angst and pain of watching my favourite characters take absolutely forever to just admit they like each other!

What’s your favourite slow burn romance?

Books I Want From The Villains Point Of View

I used to always root for the heroes when I read books but these YA books that I’ve been reading lately have me wanting to know more about the villains or straight up just rooting for them!

So I thought I would write about it on here as I would love to know all of your views!

Villains are being written in more complex and intriguing ways that makes me so interested in learning about them. And we’ve been getting some really great origin stories for fairy tale villains too! So it’s made me want to see how these villains and how they became who we see in the books!

So here are some villains I would love a point of view from:

The Darkling from the Grisha Trilogy by Leigh Bardugo

It’s no secret that I am completely and entirely in love with the Darkling. I mean you know aside from him being a mass murderer. Anyways I just want more Darkling okay?! I want to know his story from when he was a little boy to all those years he lived growing more and powerful and how he became the man that we met in Shadow and Bone. He deserves his own book!

Sebastian Morganstern from TMI by Cassandra Clare

Look he had no chance in life. His dad completely screwed him over and from before he was even born. Yet he was still a really interesting villain and I want to know what it was like for him growing up isolated and alone.

Luke Castellen from Percy Jackson and the Olympians by Rick Riordan

I mean yes, he did make some really bad decisions which led to people dying but I still couldn’t help but feel for him. He has such a tragic story and in the end he ended up saving everyone. So I would love to read more about his life before he met Percy and how he ended up the boy we meet. I would also love to see the series from his point of view.

Bellatrix LeStrange from Harry Potter by JK Rowling

She is terrifying but I still love her! She is such an interesting character and I think it would be so interesting to see things from her point of view. Especially as we would be able to see a lot more of the death eaters and how they functioned.

The Jackal from Red Rising by Pierce Brown

Another villain who was so interesting to read about. Especially as he was the twin of one of the heroines. How did they become so different? I just want to know more about him. It would especially be interesting to read red rising from his point of view.

The Commandant from An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir

She is absolutely terrifying and I still cannot get over how much she hated her own son. But I do want to know more about her. I want to know who Elias’s father is, I want to know how she became so terrifying and I would love to see more about her and Laia’s mother.

So here are the villains I would love to see a point of view from or even their own book!

What villains would you love to see a point of view from?

Friday Favourites

Friday Favourites – Magic Systems

This is hosted by Something of the Book who created this tag out of a love for lists. There are different topics for us all to be able to take part and you can find the prompts here.

There isn’t a specific number of favourites so it’s entirely up to you how many you share. You can share your most or least favourites too!

I love fantasy worlds with their own magic systems! They’re all so different and I love seeing the different spins to how they use magic in these worlds! So these are some of my favourite magic systems:

1 A Darker Shade of Magic – I love how there’s an antari in each London and only they can travel between the Londons.

2 The Grisha Trilogy – The whole magic system is so great! I always found the way the system works so interesting and how it combines science.

3 Harry Potter – Okay so of course I had to include this! Being a wizard and attending Hogwarts was all I wanted to do as a kid…admit you all waited for your Hogwarts letter too!

4 Shadowhunters – I love how they use runes to enhance different abilities and I think it would be so useful to be able to do this!

5 The Daevabad Trilogy – The jinns have different abilities and some are more powerful than others. From being able to conjure fire to being able to shape shift! Though Nahri’s abilities are my favourite, she can pick up any language instantly and be able to heal herself and others.

6 The Lunar Chronicles – The Lunars powers are quite terrifying to be honest but I still love it!

So these are some of my favourite magic systems! What magic systems do you love?
