Monthly Wrap Up

April 2020 Monthly Wrap Up

March felt like it was never ending and then April flew by. But I actually had a pretty great reading month though most of the books were ebooks and audiobooks.

I also took part in a readalong for The City of Brass that was hosted by Zulfa (@lovelyowlsbooks) on twitter and she will also be hosting a readalong for The Kingdom of Copper and you can find the information to join in here.

Here are the books I read this month:

Rage Becomes Her: The Power of a Woman’s Anger by Soreya Chemaly – I really enjoyed this audiobook. It was an interesting read.

Rating: 4/5

Incendiary by Zoraida Cordova – I did like this book but I didn’t end up loving it.

Rating: 3/5

Blood Moon by Lucy Cuthew – This book is written in verse and it was amazing! I read it all in one sitting. It discusses topics which are considered taboo and I just loved it.

Rating: 5/5

Ascension by Victor Dixen – Unfortunately I didn’t enjoy this book. I just felt so bored throughout this.

Rating: 2/5

The Hour of the Oryx by Farah Zaman – I really enjoyed this book it’s a diverse mystery book and it was really interesting. My full review is here

Rating: 4/5

The Seven Endless Forests by April Genevieve Tucholke – I was excited for this but I didn’t enjoy it much. I think I just don’t get on with the writing style.

Rating: 2/5

Hungry Hearts: 13 Tales of Food and Love edited by Elsie Chapman – This was such a wonderful book and I really enjoyed reading them all.

Rating: 4/5

And the Stars were Burning Brightly by Danielle Jawando – This book wrecked me. It was amazing but so sad and can be pretty difficult to read.

Rating: 5/5

Cinderella and the Glass Ceiling and other Feminist Fairytales by Laura Lane – I have mixed feelings about this book. I enjoyed some stories more than others.

Rating: 3/5

The Challenger by Taran Matharu – This was another great read. It’s so easy to get lost into this world, full of history and a story that kept me wanting to read one more chapter.

Rating: 4/5

Wicked as you Wish by Rin Chupeco – This book was initially a little confusing but I ended up loving it. The audiobook was really great.

Rating: 4/5

Love, InshaAllah edited by Ayesha Mattu – I was looking forward to this but I didn’t enjoy it much unfortunately.

Rating: 2/5

The City of Brass by S.A. Chakraborty – I have lost count of how many times I have read this book but I love it just as much each and every time. My review is here
