So this post is probably full of unpopular opinions as I know many of you loves these books but I just…didn’t. Some are books that I hope will get better as the series progresses, some were books that disappointed me as I thought I would love it.
So here are books I didn’t love:
1 Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor – the story itself was quite intriguing but I just didn’t like how slowly the story progressed and the writing style. I got bored and forced myself to read to the end of the first book and then just gave up
2 Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor – I hadn’t planned on reading this but everyone kept telling me I would love it so I thought I would try but again I just didn’t get on with the writing style. Though the story itself was intriguing I just wished more actually happened in the book.
3 Nevernight by Jay Kristoff – I mean the book is okay but I just don’t love it. I don’t know if it’s the footnotes that put me off or the story was slow at the beginning but it took me ages to get through the book.
4 A Court of Frost and Starlight by Sarah J Maas – I cannot explain how much I did not like this book.
5 Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi – I really struggled to get through this book but then I found that the books actually get better
6 Vengeful by V.E. Schwab – I absolutely adored Vicious but I didn’t enjoy this book as much I felt like the story dragged too much in the first half especially
7 The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare – this series was such a chore to read. By the end I was only here for Malec. Which is strange because I adore The Infernal Devices!
8 King of Scars by Leigh Bardugo – I was so disappointed by this book. I was expecting Six of Crows level of epicness and it just…wasn’t
9 Legendary by Stephanie Garber – having loved Caraval I was hoping this would be just as great but I just didn’t enjoy it much
10 The Cruel Prince – a book that I was actually struggling to get through but the ending saved it.
So there you have it, books that have been really hyped but I just didn’t love. These are just my opinions and if you loved them then I’m glad you did!

You have some of my all-time-favourite books in your list. But here’s my unpopular opinion… I didn’t like Throne of Glass. There! I said it! 😅

Lool which are your faves? I’ve heard a few people say they didn’t like ToG so dw you’re not alone 😂 I actually prefer ToG to ACOTAR lol

Nevernight, ACOFAS (cringy yes, but a comfort read of mine for personal reasons), TMI, Legendary and The Cruel Prince. Almost your entire list.😅
I prefer ACOTAR to ToG.

Lol I’m sure there’s lots of people who love these books. Aside from ACOFAS I did like them all but just not love them like a lot of people do.

I really didn’t love Muse of Nightmares. I was okay with Strange the Dreamer, but the sequel just… no. Not for me.

Ah I’ve heard a few people say that about Muse so I don’t think I will end up reading it.

I completely agree with ACOFAS. I’ve tried reading it twice and both times couldn’t make it past page 100. It’s a shame because I adore the other books in the series so much! ACOMAF is one of my favourite books ever.

ACOMAF is definitely a fave of mine too! But i felt like they were completely different characters in acofas and i just felt the story was pointless lol

We have two books in common! Nevernight and Strange the dreamer, I dnf’d both of them. And after reading acotar, I couldn’t continue the series, it was that bad for me

*high fives* I haven’t read some of these, but I find it rare to see someone who does not love DOSAB. I think it’s beautifully written, sure but it definitely has its pacing issues. Same with Cruel Prince – this one is pretty divisive, but I didn’t love it either until the ending. Hopefully Wicked King will rectify that. 😛 Excellent list!

hmm, so the Shatter Me series gets better…I bought the trilogy (as it was at the time) in a boxset and then floundered with book 1 and never made it to the end, let alone book 2. but if it improves, I guess I’ll try again…

I did like book 2 much more than the first one. I found juliette really annoying in book 1 but she was much better in the second. Plus it’s interesting to see where the story is going. I wasn’t expecting it to go like that
