Hey booknerds! Can you believe it’s already the end of May?! This month has flown by!
So I’m here today to share my monthly wrap up. I think I did pretty well this month and read some really great books! I also reread The Dark Prophecy via audiobook.
So here’s all the books I read this month!
1) The Outcast
Rating: 5/5
After binge reading the Summoner trilogy I just had to pick up the prequel which released earlier this month and it did not disappoint! I loved seeing the adult characters from the trilogy as teenagers! I also have a full spoiler free review here
2) The Ganga Shift
Rating: 4/5
I was not expecting to love this book as much as I did! It gave me The Hunger Games vibes but with shifters. You can read my full spoiler free review here
3) A Court Of Frost And Starlight
Rating: 2/5
This book really disappointed me. I was not fond of the way the characters behaved and it just didn’t really have any sort of story. I’m hoping the new series will focus more on my favourite character; Cassian, Nesta, Azriel and Lucien
4) Milk and Honey
Rating: 3/5
I don’t really read poetry much but I kept hearing great things so I thought I would give it a go. I did related to some parts of this book but I wasn’t amazed by it.
5) The Burning Maze
Rating: 5/5
This book destroyed me. I am dead. That is all.
6) How To Stop Time
Rating: 4/5
This was a really interesting read. The concept intrigued me and I really enjoyed reading it.
7) The Wicked Deep
Rating: 3.5/5
This book had some great plot twists and I really liked the characters, even the sisters were really interesting. Although I’m not quite happy with the ending.
8) Slay
Rating: 4/5
So I picked this book up because it sounded like a fun read and it certainly delivered! A boy band who fights demons? Aztec mythology? Great friendships? Count me in!
9) Blue Bottle Tree
Rating: 3/5
This had an interesting concept and one that I don’t see often; voodoo. But I found it a bit confusing and I didn’t end up loving it.
10) Undercover Princess
Rating: 3.5/5
This was another light, fun read! I really liked the characters and I’m looking forward to seeing more of them.
11) The Map of Salt and Stars
Rating: 4.5/5
Wow! This book has two stories interwoven together and I loved both stories! This book shows the realities of refugees from war torn countries. And my heart just broke reading it. This is a book that will stay with me for a long time.
12) The Dark Prophecy
Rating: 5/5
I reread this book via audiobook and I think I enjoyed it even more the second time around!
13) Yumi
Rating: 5/5
This is a short story set in between Flame in the Mist and Smoke in the Sun and is told from Yumi’s point of view. I loved seeing her POV and looking forward to seeing more of her in book 2.
So there you have it! All the books I read. I’m also pretty sure I bought just as many so my TBR pile has not decreased in the slightest!
Here are the links for other books I reviewed this month:
She Wore Red Trainers by Na’ima B Robert
The Lines We Cross by Randa Abdel Fattah
Amal Unbound by Aisha Saeed
Have you read any of these books? What did you think of them?
